Live TV! Overcoming My biggest Fear! June 16, 2007

Well not the live part… that feels like second nature…

In a post some weeks ago I wrote about the hardest thing I’ve had to overcome and that thing of course was my fear… lotsa varieties that manifest themselves in oh… quitting, failure, overeating, procrastinating… you know… but they all boil down to one thing… fear that who I am is not enough.

Well.. here I go… tellin the world that I who I am is enough.. that I am passionate and powerful and I believe in me….

(I know…that sounds so dopey and self-helpey… but its true..if you have a better way to say it please submit!!!! I would be ever grateful!

A fantastic DP just signed on…we will be shooting virals in a few weeks…..Everything is falling into place…. Here I go!!!

How can NYC support digital media? May 31, 2007

Shout out to all you digital media afficionados there!!

I have the amazing honor to be included in a summit this upcoming monday at Gracie Mansion organized by the NY Office of Film, Television and Broadcasting … the purpose? To discuss the needs of the digital media community, to share ideas for how NYC can support this incredible community that I am so passionate about, and to identify ways to grow New York City’s market share of this business.

I am a committed member of the entertainment community, and an equally passionate about this gorgeous, diverse city that is my home… I am thrilled that NYC is so committed to growing the digital media business in NYC and thrilled to know that I won’t ever have to move to that other coast…

So help!!! I need your ideas…

As a member of the digital media community, what is your wish list????

How could NYC (or any city you live in) best support your work?
What initiatives would have the most value to you?
What would make you want to open your digital media company in NYC?

Happiness- or breaking up with the emptiness inside a la Victoria Moran

Once we really understand happiness as a satisfaction of needs, maybe fewer people will expect other people to make us happy. Instead, happiness can be achieved by taking control over ourselves and our choices, good and bad.” – Whitney Hoffman

Has the inimitable Whitney Hoffman already read Victoria’s new book?

Well, no, as it turns out…. Whitney’s most recent post is about Daniel Gilbert’s Stumbling Upon Happiness, but the story ends the same way… the only person who can make us happy turns out to be… um us….

I am so honored to have Victoria as our artist of the week this week. I have had the amazing honor to be present for a number of Victoria’s talks…Victoria is an author and a motivational speaker, I think I can safely say (Victoria…let me know if I’m wrong) that her philosophy encompasses much of the new thought movement but Victoria is different cuz unlike say… Wayne Dyer, who on his show is always “great” Victoria is real person… she experiences, and honors, the fullness of what it means to be human and all the emotions and thoughts that go along with our human existence.

Fat broke and Lonely no more

Victoria’s new book “Fat, Broke and Lonely No More” really has nothing to do with being fat, broke or lonely but is rather a funny, touching typically Victorially charming tract on how to break up with the emptiness inside us that we hide with feelings of being fat, broke, lonely, inadequate, ugly, stupid, not enough…. An emptiness we all experience sometimes….an emptiness that is integral to the process of maturing – spiritually, emotionally, intellectually into the person we are destined to become….but that has also seemed to reach epidemic proportions in this country….

I read Victoria and I know I’m not alone, I know I am on the right track, and I am reminded once again that I already have everything I need….

indie musicians of the week.. Halou May 25, 2007

Haunting… melodic… electronic…moving

We chose Stonefruit from Halou’snew album “Wholeness and Separation” for this week’s single of the week… but we could just as easily have chosen the irresistlbe “Everything is OK” or the portishead reminiscent “Honeythief”… the vocals are magnetic, the music unforgetable…

After 10 years of producing, both for themselves and other artists… the grass roots power of the internet is finally bringing Halou the attention they deserve…Check out Halou’s new album, Wholeness and Separation….
